NU staff participated at International workshop of Waste to Energy, 2019, held at China Hangzhou.

Ms Noura Ali Al Balushi lecturer in Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Department of the College of Engineering at National University of Science and Technology Oman has been invited with a grant to participate in the 4th Waste to Energy International Training workshop 2019 hosted in Chain (Zhejiang University) November 3rd to 17th, 2019, in the beautiful city of Hangzhou, China.  Ms Noura Al Balushi not only represented the National University of Science and Technology but also represented The Sultanate of Oman. She was successfully chosen from over 130 applicants from 23 countries. In this workshop, the state and policy, theory and mechanism, technology and practical applications, pollution control methodology, and design and operation of Waste-to-Energy (WtE) was introduced in-classroom lectures and technical tours to WtE plants. An Asia-Pacific Symposium concerning WtE was also held during the workshop.


 Ms Noura also presented her case studies about solid waste management in Sultanate of Oman at the workshop, which attracted many scientific researchers for further discussions. Ms Noura expressed her confidence and experience, she stated ‘I had the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with many professionals. I also learned many new things and this workshop provided an opportunity to meet with other international researchers from different backgrounds, cultures, languages and universities’.   She also added that she was grateful for this opportunity as it helped her show the world “How Omani government are planning for managing the solid waste and how Oman is developing its solid waste management”.
