Job Description - DEAN : College of Pharmacy

Job Purpose
The Dean is the Chief Executive of the College, reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor & Provost. The Dean operates with a shared vision of the College’s future in mind; promotes high faculty, staff and student morale; establishes an atmosphere of fairness and enthusiasm; and ensures that the College effectively performs its teaching, research and service missions within available resources.
Eligibility:
  • Post graduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacology earned in residence from a recognized university/institution.
  • At least 15 years of distinctive record of teaching and academic leadership in a Pharmacological school setting.

Conditions of Employment

  • Attractive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience can be expected.
  • This is a full time quasi-management position contracted initially for two years, subject to renewal for further periods as mutually agreed.

Job Description - Director of Human Resources Management

Job Purpose
The Director of Human Resources & Management for the National University is expected to offer leadership and direction regarding personnel functions through the management of a comprehensive human resources administration. S/he will play a key role in the development and roll out of HR policy and strategy on a University wide basis.
Job Responsibilities
  • Set strategic priorities for the HR Development across the college
  • Identify the requirements of HR at the faculty level and admin level after interacting with departments and prepare plans for recruitment
  • Develop and monitor an annual budget that includes Human Resources services and employee recognition
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to University Council members on the key risk areas linked to Human Resources issues.
  • Take lead role in defining job descriptions for the employees of the University
  • Lead the implementation of the performance management system for the employees of the University that includes performance development plans (PDPs) and employee development programs.
  • Identify the requirement of policies and procedures with regard to HR Management of the University and develop them joining hands with the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Enhancement
  • Develop and maintain excellent management information and HR systems support for the University, including appropriate measures and benchmarks
  • Constantly engage in a process of reviewing, modifying and monitoring the operation of the HR Directorate in order to improve the quality of service
  • Plan and conduct Staff Satisfaction Survey in conjunction with the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Enhancement and produce annual reports for any action for further improvement on the HR Management system of the University
  • Continuously monitor to maintain  compliance with all existing labor Labour Law of  Sultanate of Oman
  • Conduct investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
  • Take  the lead role in the development of department goals, objectives, and systems

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree with specialization in HR Management (desirable) and administration
  • At least 7years of experience in HR positions with at least  3 years in employee relations and policy/solution development.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, and training and development
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Excellent computer skills

Job Purpose

The Director of Enrollment is responsible for the design, build, delivery and operation of a new, comprehensive enrollment management system for the National University.

The Director will achieve this by deploying creative solutions across all credentialed programs to improve the quality and quantity students admitted to the University.

Job Responsibilities

    • a comprehensive post-admissions/post-acceptance communication strategy provides support for candidates pre-arrivals.
  2. Create University-wide Enrollment Management Plan and oversee its successful execution, including the monitoring and assessment of initiatives to ensure the College meets its enrollment goals/targets in support of the strategic plan.
    • Identify, build and support relationships with public and private community organizations, community leaders, and members of professional organizations to help facilitate and grow enrollment opportunities.
    • Lead and Champion University-wide technology-enabled systems to align with and support successful enrollment outcomes.
    • Structure and lead on-going assessment of enrollment management activities to ensure that recruitment, enrollment and retention targets are met each semester.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
  • Highly competent use of the English language both written and spoken
  • 5+ years’ experience in Student Recruitment or Admissions
  • Sound understanding of the Academic Programs and Marketing to Local and International Students
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills as well as a proven ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable

  • Native Arabic Speaker (highly desirable)
  • Graduate degree in Marketing or MBA
  • Experience in working in a Higher Education Environment
  • International Higher Education experience

Job Description- Head of Governance, Vice Chancellor’s Office

Job Purpose
  • To manage the Vice Chancellor’s secretariat , in a timely and accurate manner and perform a variety of highly responsible, confidential and complex secretarial and administrative support for the Vice Chancellor
  • Support the University’s Executive Group, comprising the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellor & Provost, Assistant Vice Chancellor and the Chief Financial Officer by developing, implementing, managing and coordinating the university academic integrity, student discipline and academic appeals policies and processes, and maintaining official records relative to these processes
Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee the administrative functions of the Vice Chancellor’s Office interacting with the Executive Team and other key staff of the University
  • To work with Vice-Chancellor’s Office staff to prioritise events and meetings in the VC diary in line with corporate agenda.
  • To organise meetings of the University Council and its sub-committees including preparation and distribution of papers and identifying, planning and undertaking all administrative arrangements for the academic cycle to ensure that meetings run effectively.
  • To work independently, interfacing with all departments and offices in the delivery of effective communications for the Vice-Chancellor & Executives.
  • To propose and develop objectives and plans to establish and achieve priorities
  • To advise on governance issues and support in developing and implementing policies, procedures and processes that reflect governance best practices
  • Provide a professional interface between the Vice Chancellor and key internal and external contacts
  • In  coordination and consultation with relevant colleagues within the University, prepare  presentations and reports for the Vice Chancellor
  • To work independently, interfacing with all departments and offices in the delivery of effective communications for the Vice-Chancellor and other Executives of the University
  • Organize VIP visits to the University – planning appropriate meeting schedules, briefing visitors and internal colleagues, ensure that visitors are hosted appropriately
  • Making notes of Executive meetings, Deans’ meeting with VC/executives obtain approval of the minutes from the Chair, make actions points and responsibility and follow up actions until it is closed.
  • To work with the Vice Chancellor in preparing documents
  • To take any other additional work assigned by the Vice Chancellor

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • Business Administration/ equivalent experience
  • 7 years of  experience in managing senior executive offices
  • Solid knowledge of office procedures
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic Language
  • Experience in organising formal meetings, preparing agendas and following up actions
  • Highly proficient in the computing Skills Knowledge and experience of Higher Education or a similar public sector environment (preferred)

Job Description - Assistant Director, Events Management

Job Purpose

The Assistant Director of University Events Management will be responsible for managing various events and conferences on campus. They must be flexible to be a leader on certain events while working as a team on others.

Job Responsibilities
  • Initiate and lead the planning and management of events and conferences of the University, as assigned
  • Provide leadership, motivation and support to the team the post-holder is working with.
  • Travelling to onsite inspection and project managing events
  • Interact with the University Executives, Deans and Directors, along with all levels of staff and faculty with regard to planning of events
  • Manage and execute logistics for the events
  • Duties also include creation of newsletters and correspondence, managing participation lists, invitees, database management, and website maintenance.
  • S/he will be responsible for preparing and obtaining sanction for all event budgets from start to finish.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of event management experience required
  • Working knowledge of Event Management System (EMS) is highly recommended
  • Proficient in English and Arabic Language

Desirable: Skills and knowledge

  • Exceptional planning and organization skills with sense of urgency in prioritizing tasks while managing multiple projects in fast-paced environment
  • Highly effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills to successfully interact with diverse constituents and present information in a manner that is appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  •   Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively to solve problems and develop solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and planning events and outreach, including developing budgets
